The House of Charity is creating strong relationships with its volunteers, community leaders, and local community members. This way it creates a greater volunteering opportunity for young adults at school, college students and senior citizens.

Tender Loving Care Center

The House of Charity believes that every child deserves supplies and all teachers should have the tools to provide exceptional learning to all students regardless of economic background. The TLC Center, introduced in 2004, is focused on providing students in our high poverty schools the same opportunity to learn as those in our more affluent schools.

The TLC Center has already been running several CPR, Water and Fire Safety workshops, and clothing drives for years. New programs are scheduled to be implemented such as school supply drives, Coats for Charity, Donate a Back-Pack, Assist-a-Teacher, youth camps, and food drives.

The TLC Center also focusing on having a direct impact with students by operating a Volunteer-run free store for teachers, which will be stocked with supplies donated by the community. Through the TLC, schools will have access to school supplies and uniforms at any time year round.  All of the supplies, new and used, will be collected from businesses and individuals in our community and stocked in a unique warehouse for Houston area Public School teachers - where everything will be free all year around!  We hope to expand its horizon so that it will touch the lives of  thousands of children in need and help teachers create an exceptional learning environment.

Community Involvement

Not every family has the means to provide even the basic items for their children.  With this in mind, the TLC Center was initiated.

On a daily basis parents must make heart wrenching choices.  Purchasing school supplies is simply a luxury most families cannot afford. To bridge the gap, dedicated teachers spend an average of $800 each year to provide the basic and necessary supplies that their students need.

Another area of the TLC Center is the collection of unwanted materials from businesses and outlets so to enhance their recycling efforts to save the environment through its furniture and clothing collection and distribution programs. With the 5% population growth every ten years, we have projected that by 2010 The House of Charity TLC Center will divert tens of tons of materials from the landfills

The ultimate purpose is to make a significant impact in the communities we serve by providing essential supplies for all students to perform, excel, and grow. By contributing any items on our Needs List to the House of Charity would be greatly appreciated!

Together, we can indeed make a difference!
