Medical Missions We Set up Medical Missions of volunteer medical and surgical health professionals to countries around the world where children and young adults are treated free of charge. Local doctors and nurses are also trained. We establish free clinics for burn revision and cleft lip and palate surgery as well as develop strategies and logistics for these types of needs. The House of Charity Medical Mission program performs an average of 297 cleft surgeries each year in developing countries.  Since our inception in 1996, we have provided over 3,000 cleft surgeries and 1,000 burn revision surgeries to children in need around the world. Past Mission Shimla Pakistan Bolivia Vietnam Medical Mission Host Countries The House of Charity is in the process of planning medical missions to 7 countries: Shimla, Bareilly, Vellore in India Lahore, Karachi, Pakistan Cochabamba, Bolivia Mexico Nairobi Zhengzhou, China Vietnam Every team member is carefully hand picked and is required to submit the following: Curriculum Vitae (Resume) Current license Any other pertinent information concerning professional expertise House of Charity Application House of Charity Legal Release Form House of Charity Code of Ethics How does the program operate? Each trip will be a combination of teams prepared to perform cleft lip and burn surgeries, burn scar reconstruction, orthopedic and hand surgery in Pakistan. Each trip will run from approximately ten days and the teams consist of approximately three to four operating surgeons, three to four anesthesiologists or nurse anesthetists, one pediatrician, and remaining backup care nursing and two volunteers. How does the missions funded? Each participant provides funds for a round-trip discounted airline ticket. The House of Charity will provide food, housing, in-country transportation, and airline tickets. How many children are treated on a particular mission? Anywhere from 50 to 125 children are treated in 8 to 12 days at any given site. How long are the missions? The mission takes place in 10-15 days, although some missions may last as long as 21 days.
